... On a bicycle built for two!

Are any of you familiar with that old song about a bicycle built for two? Well... I may or may not have thought about that a lot while ... WE WERE ON A BICYCLE BUILT FOR TWO!!!

Yep... we rode a tandem bike. It was so fun! Even though we only rode around a large parking lot, we still had a lot of fun! Here's the proof :)

1011131850 1011131850a 1011131851Funny story... So it's kinda hard to get used to the bike, balancing is kinda hard. When we got on the bike it was on a fairly busy road and the bike was in a low gear. ...
I may or may not have rode down the street with my feet up while Jonathan peddled. Don't judge, I didn't want to mess anything up, and I couldn't get my feet on the fast moving peddles...

After we got to the parking lot, things got a lot better :)

White Wash update

Just in case any of you were on the edge of your seats wondering if we got sisters in our ward, and also the Brazilian elder in our ward.

... No sisters, but we did get the Brazilian elder! He's awesome!

I am very impressed with these sets of elders. They all seem to be awesome. There's one that I really REALLY want to set up with my little sister. I don't know a thing about him, besides that he seems really awesome! He's so focused that he doesn't talk about his pre-mission interests. He says he has been out for "over a year" which could mean 13 months or 23 1/2 months... I have a feeling it's closer to the 23 1/2 months.

My little sister is also still dating someone, and I don't know if this elder is even going to be in Utah after his mission... minor details :)

Toof

Can you tell I have a teething baby? Here's another post about it :)

I think The Miss is trying to cut her second tooth today. She didn't sleep as well as usual last night, took a horrible first nap, and she's just woken up from a horrible second nap (but I'm going to let her cry for a bit to see if she'll put herself back to sleep) and screamed at me between the two.

I really hope she gets her grumpyness out today because we are planning on having someone watching her tonight so we can go on a tandem bike ride and a picnic. I would hate for her to scream the entire time we're gone too... Here's to hoping the pain goes away before 6...

Eating a meal is hard to do

Cambria is a good eater, if by eating you mean nursing. She always has been. Ever since she turned six months old I have (kind of half-heartedly) been trying to transition her to solids. Rice cereal was an unsuccessful try, oatmeal was a bit better but still not good, and that's how it's been. She just isn't interested in eating. She doesn't scream or anything, but she will just not open her mouth. It's almost as if she is calmly saying "no thank you mom. I'm not interested. So you should just put the spoon away." :) I have tried baby food and she's really not interested in that. She gags every time she eats anything, so that's fun... I have recently tried puffs and mum-mums. She gags on those too, but I think that's because she doesn't know that she needs to chew them. If I put the cereal in a bottle with my breast milk she will gobble it up, so I know it's not the flavor.

She does like apples though, but not apple sauce, she doesn't like any other fruit. She may be getting better... she ate a good half a mum-mum the other day.

Someday... someday she'll eat solids.

... actually, come to think of it, when I was pregnant with her nothing ever sounded good... It was a chore to eat food, now that she's out of me, it's a chore for her to eat. Funny.

Tooth Tooth

Cambria is working on her second tooth. This time we noticed it before it popped through the gums. On Saturday Cambria was being a tad fussy during conference, I randomly put my finger in her mouth and felt her gums. I felt a bulge so I thought within a week she'd have a tooth. The next morning I felt her gums again and I felt the tooth! Wow! That was probably the easiest teething experience ever.

*Side note* I had Jonathan feel her gums (I wanted him to experience the joy of feeling her first tooth) and he didn't realize how sharp baby teeth are... He put his finger in her mouth and then took it out rather quickly with an "ouch! That's a sharp little tooth!"

Now she's working on the tooth right next to the one that popped through. This time around it's not that easy. Although, she's still very good, the only thing is she doesn't take as good of naps during the day, but she still sleeps at night. I'll take sleep at night and a slightly crankier baby during the day any day! Hopefully within the next few days tooth number two will pop through.

She's growing up so quickly! Good thing we just saw R&R and G&G Kershaw and we're going to Utah again soon. I wouldn't want for family to miss my baby growing up :)

White Washed

We have had the same set of missionaries for a while, and then they added greeney's to each elder (so we have had two sets of missionaries for two transfers). We just found out that they are ALL being transferred tomorrow. So what did we do? Make them Cafe' Rio of course!
MMMM Cafe Rio! It may take all day (and then some) to make, but man, it's good.
I don't understand the inspiration of the Mission President, but I know he is inspired. That being said, I don't like it when they transfer both missionaries out of our area, I feel like there is a lot of momentum lost when that happens.
I also have found out that it's really fun to speculate about why they whitewashed two sets of elders out of our area. Maybe because they are going to put a set of sisters in! (Please!!!! I really would love to work with sisters!) I hear there is a Brazilian elder in the mission, and Chinese speaking elders are coming from the MTC this transfer. There are a lot of Chinese speaking people (because of Purdue) in the area, so I wouldn't be surprised if one of the three areas that cover campus gets a Chinese elder. Buuuut there are 4 Brazilian families in our ward... maybe the Brazilian elder will come here :)
That's all...

Six Months

I noticed today how much has happened in a few short months! My life has drastically changed for the better!

I'm so grateful for reminders. Last General Conference I was still struggling with becoming a new mom (maybe not physically, but definitely emotionally and mentally), we lived on the third floor of an apartment, and I rarely got out of the house.

Now, we live in a house, I have an almost 8 month old baby (7 1/2 months) I'm very adjusted to mommyhood, and I get out at least once a day!

I'm so grateful for how my life has changed.

Training Wheels

Sometimes I think I have this parenting thing so easy... Cambria is such a good baby! Granted, she's not perfect all the time, not every day is easy, but she is really good most of the time. I'm not saying this to brag, I am so grateful. SO GRATEFUL!

She is a good sleeper (who else will just put herself to sleep if mommy puts her in bed fully alert (with little-to no crying))
She is (often) very easy to calm down once she does start crying.
She is so happy
She laughs easily
She enjoys entertaining herself when I need to get some stuff done...

I could go on, but I won't. Again, I'm not saying this to brag. I thank my Heavenly Father daily for how good of a baby she is.

Everyone has different trials, some people's are having fussy babies, others are struggling to get a baby, some is postpartum depression... I have had my trials, and I know I will continue to have them. But, that doesn't take away the fact that I can find joy in my blessings (so can you).

I'm so grateful for her. Sometimes I feel like I am a parent with training wheels. I know I'll be a full fledged mommy with kids that aren't as easy someday, but today, I'm going to enjoy it and recognize it.

You know what they say... "I was a perfect parent till I had my second kid"

I'm Teaching Aerobics

I taught my first two routines today at aerobics. It went fairly well... I bombed one routine, fortunately it's the one from a different instructor, so everyone knows it. The one that nobody knows is the one that I remembered. Phewf
